What is it

This is a VST plugin (effect) that simulates a speaker of a guitar combo amplifier (that is often called just a guitar speaker).

Details

I took characteristics of some real speakers, then randomly distorted them to avoid copying. As a result it does not emulate anything from real world, but sounds like a guitar speaker. Add this effect after distortion plug-ins to reach real guitar sound.

This effect is a part of the www.7amp.net Experimental Combo Emulator.

Limitations

The plugin has been tested at sample rates from 44.1 kHz to 192 kHz. It's known to work wrong at 22 kHz, and there was not testing above 192 kHz.

Plugins to use in chain with this effect

  • On the whole the guitar speaker is to be set after all devices that add distortion like a guitar amp or a guitar distortion itself.
  • Frequency or space effects, like flanger, reverb or unison are to be set after speaker emulator.

Plugins to use instead of this effect

  • You can emulate a guitar speaker characteristic with a simple mono equalizer. The one from 7AMP is coming soon.
